Bonnie Smalling joined the Re-Creation Retreat family in 2017 and has since become an integral part of our administrations team. A passionate learner and expert multi-tasker, Bonnie has applied her organization skills and keen eye for detail to a variety of fields including food service and retail, small-business management, and national park and resource conservation.

As RCR’s administrative assistant, Bonnie often serves as the primary point of contact for parents after their child is enrolled. As families adjust to their child’s placement in our program, Bonnie is always available with a kind word, a cheerful attitude, and any information needed to help ease the transition during this time of change. Beyond her direct interactions with parents, Bonnie’s organizational talents shine as she coordinates written and online communication between parents and students and addresses all inquiries regarding Re-Creation Retreat’s day-to-day operations.

Bonnie considers each and every day to be an opportunity to try something new and to become a better version of herself. Born and raised in Kanab, UT, she is an avid outdoorswoman who enjoys gardening, hiking, and camping with her husband of nearly 20 years and her beloved canine companions Raven and Monster. She enjoys cooking and writing poetry, and her experience at RCR has prompted her to pursue a degree in business administration in the near future.
